WCHS-TV Launches New HD News Set!

Saturday September 29, 2012

Charleston, WV.:   WCHS-TV launches new HD News Set on September 29, 2012.

The new set is an obvious point of difference when compared to our competition; it elevates our people and our product to the next level. When someone tunes in to sample what local news looks in this market, the choice is clear. I think our production supervisor said it best: Our competitors have a new set, we have a visual experience. ~Matt Snyder, News Director at WCHS-TV.

The new set consists of a wonderful blend of warm copper and cool aluminum metals that enhance the warm cherry wood and textured stone finishes. With touches of classic, traditional materials mixed in with sleek acrylics and polished metals, the overall set design is sophisticated and modern. The diffusion panels behind the anchors, in the main background area, add more depth and dimension to the set.

By incorporating both a rear projection screen in the main background area and a large NEC video wall in the multi-purpose area, WCHS now has multiple venues for a variety of presentations whether for branding through graphics or for presenting the latest breaking news story! They also have multiple rolling elements, including a large rolling kiosk that can be used in all areas of the set for stand up presentations or as an added element behind the anchors.

This set has so much more versatility than what we had previously. With multiple shot possibilities and a variety of performance areas, we have plenty of options that help our anchors and reporters to tell the story… and the layout of the set makes our studio look much bigger on television than it really is. ~Matt Snyder, News Director at WCHS-TV.

And Matt had this to say about working with DDG: My experience working with the DDG team was very positive. The staff was very professional, knowledgeable, and you got the sense that they placed very high value on our input and feedback; we were part of the process every step of the way. I would recommend DDG to any organization looking to re-define the standard of TV news in their market.
