KYW CBS

The broadcast architects at DDG, greatly inspired by the ‘deconstructed’ CBS eye graphic, looked at this CBS O&O with a fresh and innovative perspective. The distinct technology-driven venues, connected by the ease of movement between each presentation area, give talent an opportunity to reinvent how they can add more visual content, resulting in a deeper engagement with their audience. An expansive curved seamless LED wall anchors the main talent shots. A substantial color changing desk incorporates a wide curved LED screen for displaying branded graphics. Two different presentation areas are located left of the main desk. For customized storytelling, a large tracking LED wall can be put into action as a single image or can easily slide apart creating three individual video panels. A rolling kiosk with a touchscreen display is available for interactive presentations. The interview area is anchored by a grand LED wall flanked by two low resolution LED panels adding an additional layer of interesting visuals. Architectural textures provide a solid foundation to the style of the design. The iconic CBS logo appears on color changing scenic elements creating interesting branding focal points throughout the set.
KTVU FOX

FOX 2, the O&O located in Oakland, the largest port city in the San Francisco Bay Area, scenic design solution draws inspiration from the surrounding area. The client must haves include a set that features a variety of performance venues with all the necessary tech for in-depth storytelling. It was very important the newest evolution of KTVU maintain the station’s iconic legacy in their diverse community.
TND Studio

TND, The National Desk is a daily news program produced by the Sinclair Broadcast Group. The client needed a flexible studio environment that could quickly change to accommodate several various programs across different dayparts, ranging from reports from the national news desk to The Armstrong Williams talk show. Large LED arrays display compelling story content and branded graphics viewers instantly recognize.
The Hill

The Hill is an American political newspaper and website published in Washington D.C.. For the launch of its new hosted programs and interviews, the client asked for a set design that was ‘young, webby, fun and informal’. The must haves, a variety of performance areas, including an interview area that could hold up to six people, a walk and talk array, a desk that can accommodate two people and two separate stand-up areas. The downtown studio location added an additional challenge to the project, a small space with low office interior height ceilings. It was a tall order, and this scenic environment by Team DDG delivers a creative design that appears to be much larger on camera than its actual size!
KMBC ABC

The client expressed a need for a design to visually connect them to their community. This local news set had to reflect a fresh new spirit in the KC market. The result of the collaboration of the KMBC team and Devlin Design Group is a high-tech environment where visuals tell compelling stories, share important data and introduce information in a clear and meaningful way for the audience of this vibrant metro area with a diverse population of more than 2 million people.
League Championship Series

Riot Games, League of Legends, LCS expert analysts have many weapons in their arsenal for presenting compelling tournament and match information by using more than 4100 square feet of display technology spread across a variety of impressive presentation areas. LED walls, strategically placed to give the broadcast a dynamic feel, let analysts interact and move easily between the different venues. Those invited to the new interview area find it a welcoming and flexible space perfect for connecting with fan favorite team players or an intimate commentary. Big brand sponsors find their brands showcased in the LCS Showdown broadcasts.
Marquee Sports Network

Marquee Sports Network, is home to Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. The new scenic environment is driven by a brand-new perspective when considering the current aesthetic of sports design. The one size fits all work for some, but Team DDG finds a tailored approach to scenic design works best. Chicago’s new Regional Sports Network is inspired by the deep heritage of the Cubs and the team’s loyal fans. The legacy of the iconic Wrigley Field and its red marquee is captured throughout the set. Designing fresh ways to present in-depth content with limitless functionality, interactivity and most important fan engagement was key to this set design. A wide array of venues packed with tech, give the analysts tools and resources for producing fan-tastic broadcasts.
BNC

The Black News Channel, a 24/7 cable channel network featuring news, lifestyle and sports programming features a large set with a wide array of performance areas, including an on-camera newsroom. In addition to the physical set, there are two virtual sets adding even more interactive storytelling venues. The client’s vision, it was essential the design be culturally unique to the African American audience and reflect the dynamic community it serves.
WAGA FOX

The news team at WAGA refers to the set, not as a set, but as an ‘interactive stage’. Anchors and reporters can interact with a story using a wide array of technology including touch screens, social media kiosks, video towers and a moving storytelling wall, which literally comes alive by using motorized mechanics to pivot a section of the video wall to reveal and invite viewers deeper into a story from a visual perspective.
WESH NBC

Central Florida, known not only for theme parks, has the distinction as the ‘lightning capital’ of the US. This local station deals with intense weather – frequent severe storms and hurricanes. They needed a layout to accommodate 5 meteorologists with immediate access to technology, and multiple venues to visually explain the impending threat to their audience. The design has a glassed in room where viewers can see behind-the-scenes news gathering action. The style taps into the local Florida vibe. The weathered wood floor is inspired by the coastal boardwalks Rich and bright colorful tones in the patterned graphic treatments on the set can be witnessed in the spectacular sea and sky around central Florida.
