WTVC Set Installation; Day Five

The set installation wrapped up today and the new set looks fabulous! The Lighting Phase began early this morning with the shot blocking session and then Lighting Director, Walter Olden, started hanging the new Brightline lighting fixtures. The lighting phase is a process that takes 3-5 days depending on the size of the set. Walter will be working through next Tuesday to light the new WTVC set. Lighting is an integral part of the overall process. Both the set and the talent need to be shown to their best ability and light is a key component to that equation!

Here are some pics from inside the studio today as the lighting of the set commenced! And a huge thank you to Richard Simms at WTVC who provided us with amazing photos during the set installation process the past five days!

WTVC Set Installation; Day Four

Everyone is busy today in the studio as the major portion of the scenic installation finishes up. However, there is still a lot of work being done. The LED lights are being tested, the set pieces are being placed and the a lot of the electrical details are being worked out. Our Scenic Design Director, Kartik Dakshinamoorthy, is on site today as well, to oversee the final details of the set. He will also supervise the shot blocking session which begins tomorrow morning.

DDG caught up with Tom Henderson, News Director of WTVC, today and this is what he had to say about the new set, The installation has been trouble free and fast.  As we have gotten closer to the finished set, foot traffic through the newsroom has grown dramatically.  Our coworkers in sales, marketing, engineering and the front office can’t resist stopping and looking through the window at the progress. Everyone at WTVC is looking forward to utilizing the new news set!

Versatility and flexibility are key components of the new HD News set. The 2×6 video wall, the rear projection screen and all of the rolling set components will enable WTVC to present the news in new, dynamic ways. The set is clean, simple and sophisticated driven by back lit graphics and hi-tech electronics but grounded by the use of warm woods and stone finishes.

WTVC Set Installation; Day Three

It is day three of the set installation at WTVC. Today the big focus in the studio is on electronics. They are unpacking and installing the NEC’s into the video wall and weather center area. Of course all of this technology needs power, so cables have to be run to all the electronics and tested. There is still a lot of work to be done!

A big thank you to Richard Simms at WTVC for the fabulous photos all this week! Here are some photos from today:
